and a Senior at Clear Creek High School.

Neil Pearson

Main Telescope(s): Left: 6" f/8 Dob, rebuilt scope from the DAS auction with new OTA and improved base. The tube is covered with a USGS Viking Mars Map. Right: 8" f/6 Newtonian - Neil ground and figured the mirror during 2005-6 at the DAS ATM class in Chamberlin Observatory. Neil refurbished the GEM he bought at the DAS auction with new oak legs, OTA mounting plate and other improvements. The mount may be a very early vintage Starliner Co. from the 1960's.
Activities in Astronomy: Working on the Messier list. Extremely active in outreach at Chamberlin Observatory and with local organizations and schools. Assisted in telescope refurbishment for Pine Valley Observatory, Jefferson County. Member of the Colorado Meteorite Society.
Awards Received: Received the Clear Creek County Educational Foundation's "Kid of Character" Award in 2007.

Keith Pool

Main Telescope(s): 17.5" f4.5 Odyssey II, Rebuilt as an AstroSystems Telekit, 8" f4.5 Odyssey compact (travel scope), 90mm f13.5 Refractor, Coronado PST
Activities in Astronomy: DAS Vice President, Public outreach through school and scouting events, DAS Open Houses, AstroSystems part time employee
Observing Awards:  Lunar 100 club, Messier Marathon Champion (San Diego Astronomy Association)
Favorite Observing Experience: One night of observing in the mountains northeast of San Diego, CA a very thick marine layer rolled in off the ocean and blanketed every visible light. The complete darkness and steady seeing conditions was almost magical.

Activities in Astronomy: Star Parties and Chamberlin Observatory Open Houses
Favorite Observing Experience: Working Open Houses and experiencing a child’s or an adult’s first view of an exciting astronomical object through a telescope.
